Dave's Annual Birthday Bowling Party

This is my first try at icing a cake with fondant. It was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. The cake is an ice cream cake (I cheated and bought a Carvel one and scraped off their icing). It is not recommended to use fondant on ice cream cakes, but the texture turned out awesome. It is a lot like mochi ice cream.

Violet bought Dave the "Magic Potato Hands (MPH)" he's been talking about for two years. MPH are now known as "Tater Mitts." They're guaranteed to peel a potato "in eight seconds." We're testing them out tonight.

Thanks, the photo was pretty forgiving on the cake. Up close, it was fairly bootleg looking. Gotta start somewhere though.

bethany, that cake is awesome! i also never commented on it, but the lamb cake was fantastic, too (loved the creepy comparisons you had as well).

i'm glad to see dave had a good birthday, and 32 seconds still seems like a good time to peel a potato.

btw, saw a copy of the latest issue of 'bass master' at my doctor's appt. last week and cracked up thinking about y'all.
