The Gifted and Talented Test

HISD gifted and talented testing is underway. This morning our little prodigy took her test. We did no preparation. Let her watch a Barbie movie this morning. Gave her goldfish (whole grain - keepin' it classy) for breakfast.

I added a cup of milk into the regime.

Anyway, I left her at the test with the parting words of, "Have fun!"

It will be great if she does well, but we don't really care. It won't have much of an impact on her immediate (and really, long-term) schooling because of the type of school she attends (Montessori). Still, we figured she would have more options by taking the test.

So, I show up an hour later to pick her up from her test. She looks at me and without missing a beat, snaps her fingers and says, "Yeah, I did really good on that thing. Let's get out of here."

In a few weeks we will see how well she did. One thing's for certain...she tests very high on the confidence scale.

While getting ready for this morning's test, Violet asked, "What if they want me to draw a dinosaur?" I replied, "I dunno, wear your dinosaur shirt and look down at it if you forget what a dinosaur looks like."

After the test, I was informed that "drawing wasn't allowed, except, well, some squares. But I didn't get to draw any hearts in them, so it was only kind of fun."

In seeing Violet's dinosaur shirt, David insisted on wearing his too. He calls it his "Rrrrarrrrh shirt."

Thats awesome. The best part about this story is that she has confidence in herself. That will take her far in life. Way to go Violet. I know you did amazing. I don't know which testing accreditadtion her school uses, but candace and kaitlin were tested and they go by national scores. They got accepted and with that, are able to attend gifted classes all the way through highschool. In Palmer, this basically gives them almost 2 yrs of college credit done before highschoo endsl and scholarship opportunities just for being in the program. Free college credits and money is always good.
